Point Franklin

Point Franklin is a Portsea bay beach. It is bordered by Commonwealth land to the west and Sorrento to the east, faces north, and is 1 200 m long. The Nepean Highway and the town of Portsea parallel the back of the bay.

Waters are usually calm off the beach, with strong northerly winds required to produce low wind waves. Strong tidal currents flow past Point Franklin, but reduce in strength toward the beach. The beach is relatively narrow and steep, with deep water close inshore at high tide.
